Can I claim my daughter as a dependent for a partial year?

I took custody of her Jun-2016 (previously her mother had custody) and changed my dependent status with the CRA. I received a notice and payment of CCB entitlement for base year 2015, payment period Jul 2016 - Jun 2017 in Oct 2016 but I did not receive a RC62?

You can add your daughter as a dependent, but you will need to be careful of the credits you claim.   You need to determine, if the mother is making any claims - they can't be duplicated.

For the Arts($250)  & Fitness ($500) credits - the total claim - claimed by anyone cannot exceed the maximum. **NO LONGER AVAILABLE**

If you are a single parent, you may be able to make the claim for eligible dependent - but again you may have to check with the Mother.  Also, please review the CRA guidelines for this amount.  http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/tpcs/ncm-tx/rtrn/cmpltng/ddctns/lns300-350/305/menu-eng.html
