How do I recognize separate residences for a married couple when one is residing in a nursing home?
I'm preparing my parents tax return. They are still married but my mother moved to a nursing home this year. How do I recognize separate addresses, so I can claim my mother's nursing home expenses?

In TurboTax Online, when you are adding a medical expense receipt, there is a drop down where you can select either “Attendant care/nursing (and claiming disability)” or “Attendant care/nursing (and not claiming disability)”.
If you live in Ontario, there is also an option in the provincial section that you can check off to indicate that they lived separately.
