I am married but filing separate. Why do they need my husbands income if I am filing separately

If you do not put in the spouse's income TT will calculate a spousal deduction as if you were supporting your spouse.  Eventually CRA will reassess your returns and send you a bill plus penalty.  Plus both spouses cannot claim the GST rebate.  There are a number of credits that are based on household income rather than individual.
