I used CRA autofill and the data imported includes data that i do not have a physical slip for. Should i delete the autofill data that i do not have a physical slip for?

If you used the CRA AutoFill service (AFR) and a slip was imported to your return for which you do not have a physical copy, you do not want to remove this slip as CRA already has the slip on record.

There are times when a T4 slip does not get to the employee for various different reasons, but if CRA has that slip on record you need to report it. Failure to file without the slip could result in:

  • A) CRA adds the slip for you upon initial filing and assessment. This, of course, will result in a change to your Notice Of Assessment from what you filed.
  • B) CRA does not add the slip, but at a future date when the slip matching process takes place, they add it. If this happens, you will see a Reassessment of that return, and possibly incur penalties and interest for unreported income.
