If I do not have direct deposit set up with CRA in time, will CRA send me a cheque for my tax refund?

Is the use of direct deposit mandatory?  Has CRA completely abolished the use of cheques, or will they still send my tax refund by cheque if I am not able to set up direct deposit in time?

If you don't have direct deposit, the CRA will send you a check.
