I am a new immigrant since April 2016 and both me and my wife had incomes in 2016. Do we need to file separate returns or together?

If you are married, you can choose to either file your income tax returns together or separately.  You must indicate on both of your income tax returns that you are married, you must report eachother's social insurance numbers and net income for 2016.
