If you claim common law but are entitled to an eligible dependant because you were single for part of 2017, can either of us claim rent or does it have to be specific?

You can only do your income tax on what your actual marital status was in 2017. It was either single or common law- Please view below to see what you must claim.

If you are claiming as common law- only one of you will claim the rent.
