My disabled 20 year old son receives social assistance. Should i claim him as a dependent?

My son received a monthly cheque from the Province as Social assistance but lives at home. He has to pay accommodation to us. Do I claim him as a dependent because I tend to his needs and some of his living costs?

Yes, if you are supporting him.

You may qualify for the new Canada Caregiver Amount for him and/or other credits. If he has a current Disability tax certificate on file with CRA, you may be able to transfer unused amounts as well.
