My father told me I need to declare that I am a dependant in order for him to be able to claim it. How do I do so?

Not quite. There's no way to declare one's self as a dependant.

Did you make any money this year? Do you have tuition amounts that your dad is interested in having transferred to his return? If yes, you need to file a tax return. Once you've completed your return, there will be a couple of amounts you'll need to tell dad so that he can put them on his return: your total income and/or your tuition amount for transfer.

If you think you have a pretty simple return, check out our totally free edition, TurboTax Free: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/personal-tax-software/free-online.jsp

Give a try and if you have any questions as you go, come on back and post them here (omitting any personally identifying info)!
