The Canada Revenue Agency’s definition of dependant can vary for each credit. In this case, you have your spouse's parents. They are considered dependants if you are claiming Medical Expenses for Other Dependants. Other than that, your wife's parents are deemed dependents for Canada Caregiver Credit and your wife is the one who claims this amount.
