Does reporting no income cause problems or increase the chances of an audit?
It depends. If you report no income yet are claiming that you paid a lot of expenses, then that could be a red flag. Some people report no income, but are actually working "under the table". If you have no income, then you need to be able to explain how you eat and pay your bills.
