So I filed my taxes for the 1st time in Canada this year (for 2023). And got the tax returns deposited into my bank account in April. I just received the following email from CRA:
The CRA cannot calculate the amount of the CCR you may be entitled to receive for April 2024 to January 2025 without the following information:
- your world income, converted to Canadian dollars, for the period in 2023 before you came to Canada
- your spouse's or common-law partner's world income, converted to Canadian dollars, for the period in 2023 before they came to Canada
I had no income before coming to Canada in 2023 (I moved in May). So what do I submit here? Do I call saying I earned no income before moving to Canada? Do I have to mail them with some documents?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Please contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 for assistance.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
Thanks, but this doesn't really help. It's obvious that I can call the CRA for assistance 🙂
