I was separated in 2016 and divorced in 2017. Why is it still asking me about my spouse for my 2017 return? We have not lived together since 2016.

We split custody of our kids but do not share any expenses. I'm concerned that it asks about "the person with the lower income" etc throughout my application. I don't want to include his information.

The change in marital status from last year would trigger this information requirement. In your case, since you haven't been living as a couple for over a year, your former spouse's income, etc. will not have any effect on your credits. etc. but is required to complete your return.
