We got married in August of 2017. Prior to that my now wife claimed daughter as equivalent to spouse.  How do I claim her as such for the time prior to the marriage?

Since your marital status as of December 31, 2017 is married - your daughter can't be claimed as your "equal to spouse" for a portion of the year.
