  1. Select Find (or the magnifying glass icon).
  2. Type moving in the Find window.
  3. Select Moving profile from the list of results, then select Go.
  4. The Move during the year step appears. Answer the question: Did you have moving expenses during the year to start a job or a business, or to study full-time at a post-secondary institution?
  5. The Your Moving Profile step appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to claim your moving expenses.

Note: If your moving expenses total more than the income you earn at your new location, TurboTax will carry the leftover amount forward so that you can claim it in a future tax year. You can see this amount in the Review section of TurboTax.

Note for couples:

The CRA allows couples to split moving expenses. If you split expenses between you and your spouse, only claim the portion of expenses that your partner isn’t claiming. Usually, it’s beneficial to have the higher-earning spouse claim all moving expenses.
