Can I claim lodging and meal deductions when I was paid Living Out Allowance?

My company required me to work out of town for our jobs as an oilfield electrician. We were paid a flat rate of $120 per day of LOA (Living Out Allowance), and were responsible for paying for our own meals and accommodations.

Can I claim my Air BnB costs as Lodging?

Can I claim all of my meals away from home?

Yes, you can claim your Airbnb and meals if they have not been covered by your employer. Be certain to keep your receipts and proof of this for the Canada Revenue Agency(CRA), if requested.

The deductions can be claimed by using the simplified or detailed method. As seen in this CRA link Meals and lodging, you can find all information on which method you can use.

In addition, you can use the CRA guide below.
