Can I claim unused 2016 medical expenses and my 2017 medical expenses on the same return?
Medical expenses can only be claimed in a 12 month period and must end in the year that you are filing for. For example, you can claim from July 2016 to July 2017 on your 2017 tax return. If you have medical expenses for the period of January 2016 to December 2016, you will need to file an adjustment request for your 2016 income tax return.
