Hello - can anyone confirm whether or not the removal of non-cancerous moles/nevi are eligible medical expenses?

I had several moles removed and the dermatologist confirmed that the moles were not cancerous.

As per the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Cosmetic surgery – generally, expenses solely for cosmetic procedures are not eligible.

An expense for a cosmetic procedure qualifies as an eligible medical expense if it is necessary for medical or reconstructive purposes, such as surgery to address a deformity related to a congenital abnormality, a personal injury resulting from an accident or trauma, or a disfiguring disease. For more information, see Common medical expenses you cannot claim.

For further clarification please contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281.
