Home office expenses for employees how to calculate Size of work space and home

For Home office expenses the looking for an example on how to calculate the Size of work space. The example on the CRA site's calculator reads

All finished areas within the home count towards the size of the home. This includes:

  • hallways
  • bathrooms
  • kitchen

You can measure this in square metres or square feet.

I looking for clarification on  finished area. Should that include bed rooms, sun rooms, dining rooms or just the common area used during employment at home? Depending on rooms include affects the credits calculated.

To clarify, if your house is 1000 square feet and you wish to claim your office which is 100 square feet this means that you are claiming 10% of your total household therefore 10% of your hydro, etc.

Thank you for using TurboTax.

The form states "area of workspace" and the field format is  0 (X if you click on the field)

What data is expected in that field? Square feet? Square meters? Thanks for your help
