How do I claim my yoga income and deductions.?

I work part time as an employee (Civil Engineer) of an engineering firm and then work as a yoga instructor which is considered a private contractor.

A private contractor means that income is self employed income.  Click "Income" then "Self Employment" then "Business or Professional Activities."  You would select the first option, "Professional, Commission, and/or Other type of business" and then follow the prompts to enter your income and expenses.

Do you have T-slips for any of these income amounts? In each job, were you considered an employee or self-employed?

Then you are self employed.

Try 812190.   That is "other personal services."

As you continue through the Self Employment section, you will get to the Business Use of Home portion.

You can make a claim...however you can't use business use of home expenses to create or increase a business loss...the expenses will carry forward to be applied business profit in a future tax year.

As I stated, and as is stated on the CRA link that I posted, business use of home expenses can not be used to create or increase a business loss.  If you have other expenses, you may enter those, but home expenses will not do anything on this year's tax return.

Enter the home expenses...if you have a profit in a future year, they will carry forward and be applied at that point.
