I filled out the medical expense form for expenses not covered by my benefits plan or by OHIP but am not being credited for any of the expenses and don't understand why.

I claimed expenses for medically prescribed and approved medical marijuana and the purchase of a vaporizer for the marijuana.  This was government of Canada approved use for pain management so I expected this to be an allowable expense as none of this is covered under my company benefit plan.

Your medical expenses may not be "posting" to your tax return for a couple different reasons.

Regardless of the type of medical expenses you have entered, the total dollar amount must be more than 3% of your net income to have an effect on your tax return.

Also, you will not see any difference if your taxable income is below $11,635 and "not taxable".
