Sorry, but you heard wrong. CRA is very clear that child support payments are only deductible if they were paid pursuant to a written agreement or court order made before May, 1997. For more info, please see http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/tpcs/ncm-tx/spprtpymnts/clm-eng.html#after
