My wife organized a fundraiser on behalf of a group, we raised x dollars then donated it to a charity. The charity is wanting to issue a tax reciept in someones name?

It is impossible to track dow  each individual who donated. Do i just ask for a receipt for myself? Or can i claim it for the group somehow?

There is no requirement in the Income Tax Act for a registered charity to issue an official donation receipt.

If it was a cash donation and the individuals who donated to the "group" for the charity did not/ nor want a taxable receipt then you can simply advise the "charity" that you are not requiring a receipt.

You can't have it put in your name since it wasn't your donation alone, but a groups.
