Should I claim the Nunavut 2% tax/fee as a working deduction?

I travel from New Brunswick to Nunavut on a rotational basis to work.

I am a resident of New Brunswick.

Every worker that travels to work there has to pay a royalty fee or levy of

2% of gross wages. This 2% fee is not included in my T4 slip for taxes

paid from my earnings.

How do I claim this fee? Would it be a workers expense?

Would it be a tax? Why was it not included in my T4?

According to the government of Nunavut, the 2% payroll tax is a provincial tax applied to income earned while in Nunavut. This must be withheld by the employer at source. Your employer is not required to record this amount on the T4 and the employer is responsible for filing the tax return for this tax with the NWT government.
