The church that I donated to in 2015 did not send me an official tax receipt, can I still claim these donations just with my own receipts?

Your receipts are to be kept for your own record purposes. If for instance Cra requests the donation receipt you would need to have a copy of what you entered on your return.

What I meant was, even if I have no official tax receipt, can I still make a claim? I only have my own receipts that I was given when I made a donation but these are not official tax receipts. The church I donate to has given me an official receipt in the past but for some reason, they did not give me one this year.

Yes I understood what you meant. I in return have mentioned that you can claim it and when you return to church ask them for an official receipt for your records, in case Cra ever asks you for proof.

That makes more sense now Martine. Thank you for your explanation.
