There are two places you need to go in TurboTax Standard. First, click on "Profile" and select the appropriate profile (which ever spouse chooses to claim the credit). If you and your spouse plan to divide the credit between you, then you will need to perform this step twice.
When you are on the profile page, you will scroll down until you see "First time home buyer's amount." If this does not say "Qualify for first time home buyer's amount" then you will need to click "Edit." You will be brought to a page that, when scrolling down, you will see the question "did you buy a home, condo, apartment or mobile home this year? Check Yes to determine if you qualify for the first-time home buyers amount." Answer "Yes" and then answer up to three more questions as they appear to determine if you are eligible to make the claim.
Once you have answered these questions, you will want to click the "Deductions" heading, then select "Payments Profile." This will bring you to a checklist, one line referring to the home buyer's amount. Ensure that the correct checkbox(s) are marked, and click "Continue" until you reach the "First Time Home Buyer's Credit" screen. You will answer "Yes" for your name, or your spouse, or both should you choose to split the credit.
Once done, you can see tax refund/due on top left on TurboTax Standard. Click on the downward facing arrow next to the number, and then further click on View Detailed Summary to see the detailed tax summary on the right. You will be able to see the home buyers' tax credit.
