What is the purpose of the "Optimized donation amount to claim"?

The "Optimized donation amount to claim this year" is the amount that TurboTax thinks you should claim. If you do nothing, this is also the amount the program will claim for you. If you want to change the amount, you can answer "Yes" to "Do you want to override the optimization?" and set a different amount. If you have a spouse/partner, you can also change the amount that you are transferring to their return.
