If you are receiving this error when trying to file your return, it indicates a problem with your Canadian residency information. To address this issue in TurboTax, please refer to the following:
If you became a Canadian resident during the current tax year:
- At the start of your return when entering your personal and residency information, indicate that your Canadian residency changed, along with the date you entered Canada.
- Enter your income from Canadian and foreign sources for the time that you were not a resident of Canada. If your income was zero, indicate this on your return.
If your Canadian residency did not change during the tax year:
- Indicate this on your return. Do this at the start of your return, when you enter your personal and residency information.
- If the residency information on your return is correct but you still get the error code, contact the CRA.
