Deceased and estate tax returns

I know that Turbo Tax asks if the return if for a deceased person and then it leads you through the process of filing for the deceased during the year of death.  But I would like to know which desktop version of Turbo Tax I need to purchase to file tax returns for the estate after this initial return.

Would Turbo Tax Home and Business for $119.99 be the correct version?

I am sorry to hear of your loss.

To file tax returns for the estate of the deceased, you’ll need to file a T3 return. Unfortunately, there is no version of TurboTax that can be used to prepare a T3 Trust Income Tax and Information Return. However, Intuit offers another product called Profile OnePay that can do T3 returns. You can read more about it here: http://profile.intuit.ca/professional-tax-software/profile-onepay.jsp

Please note that if you use Profile OnePay, you’ll have to mail in your return. Profile doesn’t use NEFTILE to send returns online, it uses EFILE. EFILE is meant for tax professionals and requires an EFILE account.
