Does turbo tax automatically pro-rate a dependents birthday when it comes to the disability benefit?

Your dependant's birthdate will not be "pro-rated" when claiming a Disability Tax Credit (DTC) transfer from a dependant. 

The software will correctly calculate any credits available based on the information entered. 

  • The amount of this federal tax credit is $8,113 for 2017, with a supplement of $4,732 available for taxpayers under 18 years of age, at the end of the year.
  • Dependants over 18 years of age qualify for the basic amount of $8,113 and must first use any of that credit to reduce their own tax payable to Zero before transferring.
