Federal Foreign Tax Credits - Form T2209 Lines 40500 & 43100

In Year 2023 I held some US stocks and received US$1940.00 dividends (net) and paid US$213.88 US (per T5) Withholding taxes. In my almost filled up tax return, I got $106.94 Federal Foreign Tax Credit.

Per instructions, I would obtain the $106.94 figure if I fill up Form 2209. Trying to do this and discovered that the figure of $106.94 was already filled out under Line 43100 in Form T2209 in my almost filled up return.

It seems that there circular references (Form T2209, Lines 40500 & 43100, etc.) on how to calculate/obtain the figure of $106.94, which is still a mystery on how to calculate this figure (of Federal Foreign Tax Credit) in the first place. Please help.

TurboTax software does it's own calculations in the background as you enter your information slips. If you wish to verify this you could contact our telephone support team to make sure all is as it should be. When asked if you wish to receive an email say NO then say "speak to a representative" and hold the line.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
