I am still receiving the error warning about forms not ready - it is also listing the T1198 Form as not supported - but certification in process. Does that mean that it will eventually work? Or should I look at a different system or paper filing as this form wont be an option this tax season?
Any timelines?
Thank you so much.
UPDATE: All forms for 2024 are unlocked.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, please update your software (Help>Update).

The Statement of qualifying retroactive lump-sum payment (T1198) is now available and unlocked in TurboTax Online.
It is available in TurboTax Desktop in Forms mode, but it's still locked. You can see a list of forms that are still in development here: https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/turbotax-support/en-ca/help-article/tax-return/turbotax-say-forms-locked-finalized/L9h4thZZJ_CA_en_CA
Thank you so much for your response - just to clarify - it will eventually be available in desktop? Or do I need to do my taxes in a different way?
Thank you!

I can open the 2024 T1198 in my 2024 Turbotax. When filling out "Year of payment", the latest i can enter us 2023. Lump sum payment was received in 2024. Will this form be amended?
I see am not only one not able to file my taxes as forms are locked such as T1198; we can see that this is "supposedly going be updated sometime as seem on website here you telling people mid March however Turbo Tax - end of March - now I always have files tax by first week, of March and waiting a whole month is...
PLEASE FIX THIS

When will a fix for that be expected?

Hello,
Responses from the TurboTax team are saying that the issue with the T1198 form is resolved for the online version but will not be resolved for the desktop version before Mid-March, maybe end of March. Why is that?
I'd like an explanation because I can't help but feel like this delay is meant to push more users to your online version.
Thanks
It's not resolved for online users. Still getting the same error code message that the totals don't add but they do.... noon on March14.
I encountered same error with T1198 form online. I quadruple checked my addition and amounts on the forms and tried re-entering zeros in unused boxes. I wasted another 25 minutes (add that to last week's time wasted) trying to troubleshoot errors in Turbotax software and I have already submitted payment. I am very frustrated with the errors and delays this year. I have used Turbotax for over a decade and used to recommend to colleagues and family. I will likely look for an alternative next year.
The desktop version allows me to enter T1198 in forms method but it will not let me put the year as 2024, only 2023 or before.

Same. Have used it for years. I am also trying to do the T1198 form and my numbers "don't add up" in the boxes - but they do on paper. So frustrated.
But the form has a major glitch. The error is that the numbers "don't add up" - but in reality they do. MANY people with lump-sum payments did NOT receive any interest. Can't get past the Turbo Tax math not mathing in the boxes.
GLITCH. THEY DO ADD UP.
1 | The breakdown of principal (total of boxes 68520 through 68560) must equal the total principal amount (box 68519). |
I am trying to enter the information and I am still getting an error due there is no interest payment. When will this be rectified? If not may I get a refund on my purchase and use another program.
@DogMomx2 T1198 form is still locked by CRA and not finalized by CRA yet. Please refer to this link Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?
We do not have any ETA on this yet but as soon a these forms gets finalize we will be updating them in TurboTax for an accurate calculations.
We appreciate your patience.
I am having the same issue online with the totalling of boxes 68520 to 68560 of the T1198. However, if I remove my amount from box 68555 (5th prior year - 2019) and recalculate the totals the form works and allows me to move on. The only difference with box 68555 for me is that the amount entered is under $1000 while all others are over $1000. I also tried adding the amount from box 68555 to another year so that the totals match my paperwork and the error reappears, so it might be something to do with the total amount of all the boxes. Greater than $xxxxx.xx no go but less than $xxxxx.xx then the T1198 works...
Still not working online, error message and won’t let me proceed
