How to report honoraria? Self-employment? Industry code?

Hi there,

Apologies if this is a simple question -- I'm new to this. I'm curious if anyone has any experience reporting honoraria as income. I received a T4A for a sum I received as a thank you for some volunteer work I did. The T4A showed up on my TurboTax profile with the correct numbers no problem. The issue I'm running into is that I've recently learned this is considered "self-employment," so it's asking me to complete information about a business address, industry code, etc. I reached out to the company, and they assured me I shouldn't need to input this information, but I keep running into an error if I try and skip these pages, even if I report "not self-employed."

Would anybody be able to support? Many thanks!

Your honorarium is considered self-employment, you are correct.

You are not required to fill out all of the business information, however, you do need to input the industry code. If you cannot find a code for the exact industry, choose the closest you can find.

(For the business name, you can just put the initials of the business).

To locate the industry code of the company from which received your honorarium, please see:

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
