Just Married - File Joint or Separate?

Good morning,

My wife and I were married very recently, in late December '22. We were just wondering if at this point, we should file or taxes (Through TurboTax) jointly or separate.

We are far from experts and are just unsure if it makes a difference in potentially maximizing our returns since we were both considered "single" for 98% of last year.

Since her and I both claim "0" and get more taxes taken out of our paychecks, would it be suggested that we both file on our own or together since we are now married?

Thank you all have a great day!

Yes you will now claim married. For more information about the benefits of now being married and filing joint returns, please see our TurboTax articles:
