Netfile was to be available on February 24 2025 to file 2024 taxes, but I am unable to file my taxes and can not find out why

Are you getting any Netfile error? Please make sure to check if you are using any locked forms that might be preventing you to Netfile.

Thanks for choosing TurboTax.

As per the CRA, the CRA is working diligently to update its systems to reflect the currently enacted capital gains inclusion rate of one-half. However, this update may not be completed when online filing becomes available on February 24, 2025. If you are impacted by this situation, you may avoid processing delays by waiting until the updates are completed in the coming weeks before filing your income tax and benefit return. The CRA will grant relief in respect of late-filing penalties and interest until June 2, 2025, for Individual filers and until May 1, 2025, for Trust filers, to provide additional time for taxpayers reporting capital gains to meet their tax filing obligations.

TurboTax FAQ: Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Thank you for the information, but I do not have Capital Gains or after looking at the locked forms, there is nothing that pertains to me.

I receive Canada OAS and Quebec Pension. That is all. I have no other income, not RRSP's or investments.

I do not understand why I have to wait for locked forms that do not pertain to my pensions.

After reviewing the locked forms, none of them pertain to me. My only income is OAS and Quebec Pension. I have no Capital Gains and have never had any

If you are not using any locked forms, we suggest you to contact our Product support team. They have access to tools we don't have here in Community, like screenshare, and investigate this issue for you.

I had the same issue, and I think I resolved it. I closed out TurboTax, restarted a new session, did the update under 'help' (there were no updates to add), and now the Netfile seems to start.

@Karen301970 Do you have a T5 slip? Are you using TurboTax Desktop or TurboTax Online?

Desktop - Downloaded it recently, (bought the code from L. Drugs). Populated it with T4, etc (but no T5's), saved it a few times, printed it out for the records, and then tried to Netfile.

That's when I found I had to completely log out of the program, and restart it with a check of the updates.

Hope this helps.

@LifeIsADanceOfMinds Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, Updating a software is important as it won't let you Netfile if it's not updated to a current version.

I do not have a T5. I have nothing but T4OAS and Quebec pension slips

I have done the update and it still won't work. Still tells me I have locked forms and I do not have any of the listed locked forms.

One issue I came across.

As you perform the review there is a warning prompt regarding disposal of property.  If you hit "Review" and "No" it still triggers a schedule 3, but if you skipped the prompt it will net file.

I went in cleared out the flag box (so both were blank) and the program allowed me to netfile.

I tried the suggestion from D2024, but it did not work. I did not get the message disposal of property or schedule 3, I still can not netfile.

I’ve been trying to file my report, but it’s saying there’s an error and it’s locked. I went back and fixed anything, but I do not know why I have not able to file. I have already paid and the money has come out of my account, but it’s not letting me file and honestly i’ve tried to get help with this and have not received any help your clothes on the weekends and only open 9:30 in the morning which I am already at work and work until you close so I need help with this besides money to Friday, I’ve already paid and you have not help me out. This is not OK and not fair

@Alanaham Is it saying you have locked forms or that your NETFILE account is locked?

During tax season (from CRA NETFILE opening (mid-February) to the regular filing deadline (April 30), our phone support team is available 7 days a week from 9 AM to midnight ET for English support. You can call them at 1-888-829-8608.

I contacted Product Supper, did a screen share and they confirmed that I do not require any of the locked forms but I still can not Netfile my returns and we are now March 5th. This is I am sure delaying my husbands refunds.

@Karen301970 These forms are still locked by CRA & RQ and not finalized by yet. Please refer to this link Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?

We do not have any ETA on this yet but as soon a these forms gets finalize we will be updating them in TurboTax.

We appreciate your patience.

My patience has run out. I have submitted for a refund and will secure paper forms and do my taxes myself and mail them in.  I had been doing taxes for over 40 years and 10 years ago thought using a software would be faster but the debocal this year and made me decide to go back to doing taxes myself by hand.

I have also checked my CRA account and confirmed that I don't have anything compacted by the blocked forms so there should have been no problem filing my taxes. My husbands were filed on February 25th but his refunds are being held up until I can get my forms submitted. With a substantial refund this year this is just an unacceptable situation.

What was the error message or code you were getting that prevented you from filing?

Why can't I Netfile my returns, I do not have any Capital Gains!
