Open TurboTax
Hello,
I’m trying to file my Québec tax return through TurboTax and I received the following error when transmitting:
“Check social insurance number 000 000 000 in the income tax return. The number is not valid. (T3C0011T). For more information, contact NETFILE Québec assistance (T3Z00004).”
Here is my situation:
I am a resident of Québec.
My wife is a non-resident of Canada and does not have a SIN or ITN.
In the federal return, TurboTax allowed me to enter 000 000 000 for her SIN and the federal return was successfully filed.
However, when transmitting the Québec return, Revenu Québec rejects it with error T3C0011T saying the SIN is not valid.
My questions:
What should be entered for the spouse’s SIN in the Québec return if the spouse is a non-resident with no SIN/ITN?
Is 000 000 000 not accepted by Revenu Québec?
Do I need to apply for an ITN or a temporary number, or is there another way to file through NETFILE Québec?
If there is no number available, does the Québec return need to be printed and mailed instead of NETFILE?
Has anyone encountered this situation before when filing with a non-resident spouse?
Thank you for your help.
