Quebec and CRA will not allow me to File online 2024 taxes

Hi,

I have completed both Quebec and CRA income tax and I cannot submit either online. I am getting the red cancellation dot when I go to click on NetFile. The Quebec side is not giving me an explanation on why and CRA is referring to locked forms ? The locked forms do not apply to my situation at all....using Desktop version. HELP.

alot of us are in the same boat unfortunately. All they keep saying is that CRA is working on the issue and no ETA is given.  I've been using Turbo tax since 2019 because it was always fast and efficient. I think this will be the last year I'm using it. Hopefully we wont have to wait until end of march like it says

Update!

I spoke with their help line and they have confirmed with me that the issue will be resolved on March 14th.

That is good to know.  Good on you for finding a way to talk to someone there!  I have been using this software for 15 years and it is the first time this happens.  Looks like it is pension splitting in my case, but it let me file, just holding up my husband…but you would think they are linked by the pension splitting.  Very irritating and I am thinking of just dumping my receipts on an accountant next year

It’s March 14th and still not happening.

Yep indeed. Tried going on the software last night and the message is to come back on March 17 to file…. I’m livid…

I know.  I checked this morning.  Apparently capital gains is a big reason but I don’t have those.  But we are pension splitting, and I see the Quebec form is a culprit.  Odd that I was able to file mine though.  Pension splitting goes on both people’s returns

I don’t have capital gains either and not splitting with anyone. I guess that schedule 3 is mandatory when filing? SMH I am very annoyed

Same! Like many of the TT faithful, I’m expecting a refund. Really beginning to feel my blood boil.

I did my sister’s taxes (no capital gains) and I still can’t file for QC. Once again, a refund is in play.

@sacodo listen!!! Where did you request your refund? I’m hoping we won’t have to do a scene and that they will have the decency to come up with some compensation. Pffff!

We are working to get all forms unlocked as soon as possible, but we don't have a date for when this will happen. We thank you for your patience.

Please note, while the filing deadline is still April 30 for most people, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is granting interest and penalties relief until June 2, 2025 for taxpayers reporting capital gains.

Here's some links regarding the delay:

If you are using TurboTax Desktop and don’t need any of the locked forms, please try clearing the unneeded forms and then closing unused forms. You can find those options under Edit>Forms in the top menu.

@pp2310

If you bought TurboTax from a 3rd party retailer (Costco, Staples, etc...) you can request a refund from this page: https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/turbotax-support/en-ca/help-article/taxation/get-refund-turbotax-product/L0GFPCPaC_CA_en_CA

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

The last part is so unhelpful. There is a 60-day limit. I bought the software in December and exceeded the limit. This policy really needs to be revisited.

I don’t think the problem has been created bu Turbotax, at least not completely.  CRA decided to delay a change in capital gains tax, so that form has changed and CRA has to update it first before tax software can update their forms.  So CRA is the source of the problem and I presume all software providers will have same issue.  Except that in my case I am not using the capital gains form so it is harder to understand. I have been thinking of switching to an accountant for a few years and I think I will do it next year.  At my age, I am tired of doing them myself.  A hassle.

I bought my software on January 8, so 60 days doesn’t help me either.  I guess being brand loyal (about 15 years) and therefore just picking it up early doesn’t pay off!

I was able to file using H&R Block. Good luck for those waiting on Turbo Tax. This is the end of my personal turbo tax era

Good to know.  I was bracing for having to download froms from Qc and Cra and hand copy the data shown on the various Turbo Tax forms.

All the locked forms will be unlocked and ready by the 20th of March, 2025, and you will be able to print/save/Netfile. We appreciate your patience.
