Residency status changed

I was currently employed in Canada during the 2014 year under an open work permit in canada and received my permanent residency status in July of 2014. Does this mean my residency status has changed in 2014 or assume no?

You would file as a resident for CRA tax purposes if you were living and working in Canada on a permanent basis as of 31 Dec 2014.

Being a "permanent resident" is a citizenship description and does not have a direct bearing on your tax residency status.
