Residency status

Hello,

So I am a canadian citizen and on the 15th of Dec 23 I left to another country to live in for some time. We own a house in Canada which we started renting 15th of Sept 24. I read there are several forms I would need to submit, but on turbotax its just a questionaire , does this translate to forms at CRA's end?

Also as for my residency status , I considered my self resident since we only rented our primary residence in the last quarter in the year so I add my foreign income to be taxed by CRA ( its a treaty country). I dont see a place which lets me choose my status on CRA, where does it indicate on turbotax my residency status?

Thanks

If you use TurboTax Online, the software will take your answers to the questions it asks, and then enter that data into the CRA forms for you.

If you are a Canadian Resident, then at the beginning of your return you'll pick a province and then be asked if you are a Factual Resident or a Deemed Resident.

This Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) page can help you determine if you are a resident for tax purposes: Determining your residency status
