Should my spouses net income cause the balance I owe, when I have completed my return? We file spate returns.

I am on CPP disability and had other income that I claimed on my return, and had a balance owing of $33.65.  My spouse works full time and had her taxes done by H&R block. When I entered her net income, on my return, it is coming up with $205.36 owing.  Why is that?

Hi

Your spouse's income is required to calculate the applicable spousal non-refundable credit.  Before you enter the amount, the system calculated the credit, which was reduced or negated based on that income. Anything over the $11,327 would negate it completely.

Hope this helps.
