Taxes from previous years for deceased

Hi,

I helped my father file taxes he hadn't for 10 years.  Electronic filing for the past seven years was successful. He filed 2016 to 2014 in August, by paper as required and received the refunds for those years. He is also entitled to GST/HST and Trillium benefits for those years.  These benefits were processed by the CRA  and we were notified of the amounts he would be paid on dates in November.  Sadly my father passed away in early October and the amounts have not shown up in his account (joint account with me and still open)

My Question is this:  I cannot find anywhere on the CRA website, nor in contacting them if my father or his estate is still entitled to receive the GST/HST and Trillium benefits for the years 2016 to 2014.

Some background info: I have applied to the CRA to be the representative to do his final taxes for 2024, which takes a bit of time for confirmation.  There is no will or executor and there will be no lawyer.

Appreciate your help.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Unfortunately, you would have to discuss your father's eligibility for those credits with the CRA. If you haven't gotten the right to represent your father and his estate yet, the CRA likely won't discuss specifics in the matter with you, so you might have to wait until then.
