Hello! I started a part time gig as an Uber Eats Delivery Driver in September 2024. When filing the vehicle information in, it says "If this is your first year of claiming Capital Cost Allowance on an asset, you won’t need to enter any amount.". The problem is that the page wouldn't let me continue if I leave the amount as zero. I'm stuck on how to proceed. I've spoken to several tax experts via chat and I'm getting different answers. Some had advised to enter the amount as $1 and some says to leave it as zero (but I can't because the page wouldn't let me!). Any advise on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated!
Please contact our phone support team at 1-888-829-8608 as they will be better able to assist you.
During tax season (from CRA NETFILE opening (mid-February) to the regular filing deadline (April 30), we're available 7 days a week during these hours:
During the rest of the year (May 1 to mid-February), we're available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET for English and French support.
I did speak to Support on the phone and they weren’t able to figure it out.
Yes, the car was bought January 2017. It’s a Hyundai Tucson. the date I entered is January 2, 2017 on the “Date car was acquired” question. It prompts me to enter an amount under the “Unclaimed Capital Cost” field. I’m not able to leave it blank or zero, it wouldn’t let me continue to the next page. When I clicked the help sign for more information, it says to leave it blank if this is my first time claiming.
I've sent you a private message. On the community page, you can click on the envelope in the top right to see it.
Hi, I couldn't respond to the private message, but I've sent you a new message directly, hopefully you received it.
This is a screenshot of the page that I'm stuck at. It says if I've never claimed for CAA, to leave the amount as blank/zero, but the screen is prompting me to enter an amount in order to continue. I'm stumped.
Any help is appreciated.
