Unused tuition fees

I did not claim my unused tuition fees in 2019 on turbotax. I had the tuition amount accumulated since 2016 and started working in late 2018. In my CRA account, the unused tuition amount went into “Amount From Prior Year Applied” and NOT “Amount Available For Carry Forward” for 2019 as I forgot to claim it. Does this mean that CRA has already applied the unused tuition amount in my 2019 tax return? If not, can I claim this amount in my 2020 tax

Thanks for your question. Yes, the amounts of unused credit are applied to reduce tax payable automatically. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) applies the available tuition amount carried forward every year to reduce your taxes to zero until it has all been used. In this case, it means your tuition credit has already been used and applied. You don’t have further tuition to carry forward and there is no carry forward tuition to be applied in your current tax return
