Which residency status should I choose (temporary outside Canada without mailing Canadian mailing address)

Hello,

I need your help regarding my residency status. I understand that I'm a factual resident but it might be more complicated than that.

Here is my situation quickly: I'm PR in Canada and I'm working for a Canadian non-profit remotely, as permanent full-time. In 2020, I lived in Vancouver from Jan to May, got separated and spend 2 months in France, moved to Halifax from August to December, and move back to France on Dec 27. I'm waiting for the COVID situation to be more stable before coming back to Canada.

I don't have any official address in Canada anymore but I'm still working for my Canadian organization. I'm not sure about my residency status as of Dec 31th: non-resident? deemed resident? I think I'm a factual resident but Turbo Tax doesn't give me the option.

If you are unsure of your residency status, you will need to contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and confirm it with them. If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281. This page has more ways to contact the CRA: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corporate/contact-information/telephone-numbers.html
