My apologies! The error is all mine. I just returned from a 10-day business trip. I had prepared the large return prior to my leaving, but evidently I did not e-file the return. My mistake for causing this commotion.
Related to this is the handling of already-filed returns that get hit with "corrected" Form 1099s. If I recall correctly from past incidences of this nature, the process is to wait until a return has been processed by the IRS, then to file an amended return. I suppose that if the adjustments are relatively minor (under $50), an amended return still needs to be filed. But, if all five of the e-files have been used, I presume that the amended return must be mailed in. Is this correct?
