Potentially another possibility is a taxable benefit being reported on one of the T slips. One possibility is an amount showing in box 118 or 119 of a T4A.

Same happens to me. And I see the problem was reported long ago. I am retired for many years now but keep having few dollars as net employment earnings for the last 1-2 years. The suggestion provided is unprofessional and unsuccessful. I applied it to find nothing relevant. The software should allow me to click on the number in any summary and be able to see where from it comes. Please elevate the issue to a competent level.

Net employment income reports the total income on lines 10100 and 10400. You can check your entry in these two lines as follows:
- If you are using TurboTax Desktop, switch to Forms view on the top bar. Open your T1-General and check lines 10100 and 10400. You can double click on the amount to check the slips entered.
- If you are using TurboTax online. Go to Detailed Tax SUmmary from the left-side menu under your refund amount or balance due. Click on the net employment income line 10100 or other employment income line 10400 and a pop-up window will direct where to add or check these entries.
Other employment income can include:
Received tips, gratuities, occasional earnings, or other employment income
Wage-loss replacement plan
Claimed a GST rebate in the tax year 2019. Do not confuse this with the GST credit. You must include the rebate amount as income in the tax year 2020.
Deferred stock option benefit
I hope this was helpful

I am retired and had the same problem with a Net employment earnings of $9. Did not make any sense so I tried filing with a competitor and did not get the Net employment earnings of $9, which also increased my refund by $3. No big deal but feels cleaner. Found the competitor very easy to use, and it is free ! I did make an optional $30 donation which gets me the audit support if needed.
