: "I have some shares in a canadian company but have not bought or sold any in 2017. Can i still use the Standard tax program?"
Can I still purchase the basic or standard tax program if I owned but did not sell or buy shares in a Canadian company in 2017, or do I need the next upgraded version?

Self-employed
You can use the Standard edition, even if you buy or sell equities, fund units or other financial assets. If you owned the shares during 2017 and received dividends, these should generally be reported on a T5 slip. Fill all boxes from the T5 into the appropriate fields in Turbotax T5 income reporting screen.
If you have My Account for CRA , you should be able to use AutoFill My Return to download your T5 data, provided CRA has the slip on file.
