Seniors and students
I thought the problem was splitting the income but that was not the case.
there are 2 different schedule 2 forms the federal and the provincial. These were supposed to be marked 0 instead of the full amount allotted for the deduction. They said I was not eligible for either of these deductions. So I had to pay the difference of 1193.00. A portion of this was interest. The gentleman at the Canadian Revenue Agency said it was nothing I personally did wrong. The deductions are part of an algorithm set up in your system and depending on how I answer the questions asked. In other words the full amount was given to me (automatically). This was very frustrating to me. I thought everything was fine with my return but wasn’t. Thank you for your time.
