Why do Turbo Tax not allow joint returns to have medical expenses on both returns?

Seniors in nursing homes often have annual medical in excess of $75,000.00 and it would be great if Turbo Tax would allow on coupled accounts the same as Studio Tax. This would be a great new feature for 2019 tax returns Taxpayers are not concerned about the additional 3% of net income as a additional deduction from the total medical expense. You should be allowed to enter medical expense on both returns that are coupled.

You can claim medical expenses on both returns but you will have to file them separately. You still indicate your marital status as married but prepare them separately. We apologize for the inconvenience.
