My boyfriend's return is always automatically put on his Student Loan (he doesn't receive it), this was our first year filing together, will I get my return, or not?

Yes, if you are entitled to an income tax refund, you will receive it. The Canada Revenue Agency will not take your refund to put towards your boyfriend's amount owing even if you are filing your income tax return together.
